GOD IS OUR REFUGE

This morning during devotion, I read Psalm 46:1.  Later in the day the news reports were describing the terrible winds and fires in Southern California.  Psalm 46:1 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”.  Prayers for God’s intervention, for the firefighters, rescue workers, and those who have lost loved ones and homes.

This happening shortly after the tragic event in New Orleans and 2025 is just starting.  I am not an alarmist nor a prophet, yet I believe there is something timely and prophetic in Psalm 46.  In the NKJV, the caption reads “God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations”.

Three times in this short chapter it mentions God being our refuge.  It must be important!  Probably the most important is verse 10, “Be still, and know that I am God…”.  Remember Psalm 23, “…He leads me beside the still waters…”.

In this new year it’s time to listen and hear more than ever before; not what we think He is saying but what we need to hear.

Isaiah 30:15 (NASB) has been a very staple, constant verse of hope and security for me.  “…In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength”.
